Manchester United travel to the Volkswagen Arena on Tuesday night. Knowing a win will take them through to the knockout stages of the Champions League. A draw may be enough, if PSV Eindhoven fail to beat CSKA Moscow.
Ahead of the game against Wolfsburg, we take a look at their recent form in the Bundesliga and Champions League. Also we will look at the players who may be a danger to Manchester United.
VFL Wolfsburg Recent Form
Wolfsburg currently sit in fifth place in the Bundesliga after a last minute defeat to second place Borussia Dortmund yesterday. That result leaves them ten points behind Dortmund and a further fifteen points behind runaway leaders Bayern Munich.
Wolfsburg looked to have earnt themselves a point with a goal from the penalty spot in the first minute of stoppage time, only for former United midfielder Kagawa to score his fourth goal of the season in the third minute of stoppage to give Dortmund the three points.
The defeat yesterday was their second in their last five league games, winning two of the other five including a 6-0 victory over Werder Bremen. Drawing the other game 0-0 with Augsburg.
A 2-0 win away to Moscow last time out in the Champions League, saw Wolfsburg move above United to the top of the group. They currently sit on nine points having won three game and losing the other two.
Two of those wins have come at the Volkswagen Arena and they are yet to concede a goal at home. Beating Moscow 1-0 and PSV 2-0.
Who Are The Dangers To United?
Kevin De Bruyne was the main man for Wolfsburg last as they finished in second place in the Bundesliga and won the German Cup for the first time in their history. Following his departure to Manchester City, they needed to replace his goals and assists.
Draxler arrived at the Volkswagen Arena as the direct replacement for De Bruyne as he was signed just days after De Bruyne left for Manchester. Draxler arrived from Bundesliga rivals FC Shalke 04 for £25million.
Since his debut for Shalke ages just 17, Draxler has been identified as one of the most promising young players in Europe. Has often been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal and United themselves said to have shown an interest in him.
Since his arrival at Wolfsburg, Draxler has made 18 appearances for them, scoring three goals and providing four assists for his team-mates.
Draxler is an attacking midfielder who has the ability to use either foot. He can play on either wing or as an attacking midfielder through the centre. Wolfsburg have used primarily from the left wing or as an attacking midfielder through the centre.
He possesses great speed and has ability to run at his opponents, he is also known for having a powerful and accurate shooting ability.
Bas Dost is a Dutch striker who arrived at Wolfsburg in July 2012, joining them from Dutch side Heerenveen after scoring 52 goals in 73 games for them. He is currently the top-scorer for Wolfsburg this season with nine goals. He has 46 goal in 101 appearances for the German side.
This is his fourth season with Wolfsburg and last season was his best in terms of goals as he scored 20 goals in 36 games after struggling to have an impact in his first two seasons.
Dost has made 22 appearances in all competitions for Wolfsburg, finding the back of the opponents net on nine occasions.
He is a traditional target man for Wolfsburg. With the ability to hold the ball up and bring his team-mates into the game, whilst also have a strong aerial ability.
