Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal is delighted with the signings of Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin but is still looking to make further additions to the squad. With the signings The Red Devils have already made this summer, they have strengthen the midfield area and also added competition for Antonio Valencia in the right-back position.
The manager has given an interview the club’s in house channel MUTV, where he talked about the club’s transfer dealings so far and talked about whether there would be anymore new additions coming in before the transfer window closes. Van Gaal stating that he hopes to get a few more in
I hope so. No, we are not finished yet I think.
He stated on numerous occasions last season that the squad was lacking balance, we saw that with Wayne Rooney being deployed in a midfield position for much of last season, partly due to injuries. He has addressed the midfield area with the additions especially of Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin.
Van Gaal is still searching for the balance in the squad that he wants, stating he still feels that he still needs to improve the squad in two areas. Whilst also saying that the club will only bring in players that will improve the squad overall. Manchester United do not buy players just for the sake of buying.
It is what I have said already in many press conferences. We need a balance in the selection and I think we still need to improve at least two positions and we shall do that when it is possible.
But we shall only buy when the player can give a contribution to our level. And, of course, that is in the eyes of our staff, but I have to have confidence that he can cope with the rhythm of the Premier League.
As well as new players coming in, it’s safe to say that there also be more players heading out of Old Trafford this season. With Nani and Robin Van Persie having already left, they could be shortly followed out of the Old Trafford exit door by Rafael, Victor Valdes and Jonny Evans to name a few.
