United Target Martial

  • Reports in France suggest that United are targeting Monaco forward Martial
  • Martial is 19 and scored 11 goals for Monaco last season

Despite Van Gaal’s refusals, you don’t have to be a top pundit to see that Manchester united are in desperate need of reinforcements in attack.

Manchester united once again endured another fruitless afternoon in front of goal against Swansea this afternoon. Wayne Rooney scored a hat-trick in midweek, but when twice clean through against Swansea he again looked like a man without any confidence in front of goal.

This Manchester united team is lacking any pace, even players like Memphis and Young, who you would expect to run at the opposition. Don’t seem willing to do, the most attacking players in this United team at the moment at the full-backs Shaw and Darmian.

That fact probably cost United the game this afternoon because they were both bombing forward at the same and United lost their shape allowing Swansea back into the game.

Where Are The Martial Stories Coming From?

RMC Sport are reporting that United have bid in the region of €50million for Anthony Martial and talks are ongoing between his club Monaco and United. Whether this is true remains to be seen.

It wouldn’t be the first time that United would take a striker from Monaco on the eve of the transfer window shutting. As we saw Radamel Falcao arrive at Old Trafford this time last year.

Martial started his career at Lyon before moving to Monaco in the summer of 2013 for a fee in the region of €5million plus add-ons and has gone to make 57 appearances and score 13 goals for the principality. He is player that can anywhere across a front three, whether it be the main striker or on either wings.

One thing is for sure if United do complete the signing before the transfer window. They will not be buying the finished article, as Martial is only 19 years of age and has made just over 60 appearances in the Ligue One in France.
