Leeds United youngster Lewis Cook is attracting interest of the Premier League big guns with Manchester United said to be leading the chase for the England under-19 International.
Cook is regarded as one of the promising young talents in the country and has caught the eye of the Premier League leading teams in the last 18 months.
Manchester United manager has shown his not afraid of promoting young talent into the first-team at Old Trafford. Whether that be talent already at the club or by bring it in from outside the club. United splashed the cash on two of the best young talents in the world this summer, in Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial.
Van Gaal has already said he is keen to integrate United’s young talent in the first-team and holds regular meetings with assistant Giggs and Academy director Nicky Butt to discuss the stars of the future. Recent games has seen Axel Tuanzebe Cameron Borthwick-Jackson both promoted to the first-team bench.
Cook graduated through the Leeds United Academy and was appearing for the Leeds United under-18s when he was just 15 years old.
Cook made his debut in the Leeds United first-team on the opening day of the 2014/15 season after impressing for Leeds in pre-season. Despite only being 18 years old, Cook has already racked up 52 appearances in the Yorkshire sides first-team.
Leeds United will be reluctant to let the England under-19 International leave Elland Road, but despite signing him to a contract till 2017, they will be bracing themselves for interest in their young star from the Premier League’s big guns.
