There has been a lot of reports over the last few days that Manchester United have agreed terms on a contract with Valencia’s Argentinian centre-back Nicolas Otamendi. It is believed that one of Van Gaal’s top priorities this summer will be to bring in a centre-back. With Mats Hummels now looking likely to remain at Borussia Dortmund, could Otamendi be the one for Van Gaal and Manchester United. If United are to sign Otamendi they will have to reach an agreement with Valenciia who are believed to want at least £36million if they are going to let him go.
It wouldn’t be a summer transfer window without Cristiano Ronaldo being linked with a return to Old Trafford. Though if there is any interest from United they may face competition from French big-spenders Paris St Germain. Spanish newspaper Marca are reporting that Ronaldo is happy at Real Madrid but wants to clear up a few matters regarding next season’s team. I believe that we still be seeing Ronaldo in a Real Madrid at the start of next season and don’t think we ever see Ronaldo gracing Old Trafford as a Manchester United player again.
Several United players are being linked with exits in the media. Valencia are said to be interested in signing Antonio Valencia, if this is the case could Valencia be used in a deal to Otamendi to Old Trafford. Two defenders are being linked with moves away from Old Trafford, with Jonny Evans and Tyler Blackett both being linked with moves to Everton. Jonny Evans is said to be Roberto Martinez first choice to replace 37 year-old Sylvain Distin, who looks set to leave Goodison Park. If Martinez fails in a move for Evans, Blackett could be seen as an alternative. Blackett is also said to attracting interest from Sunderland who may be interested in taking him on loan.
