Season 2017/18 Preview: Jose Is Starting To Mould His Own Team

Jose Is Starting To Mould His Own Team

By Andy Jones

  • Jose Mourinho can know start to call this squad his own
  • Three key additions made so far

Jose is starting to mould the team into one of his own, with 3 key players already signed this window, and with a month to go. There is still the opportunity to get the fourth in. Whether that be Perisic or somebody else.

We saw signs last season that the team could compete at the top level, if we can turn our form home around, putting the lesser teams to the sword then I feel we’ll be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.

There is no better manager tactically, to get the required result in the big games, as proved by the Europa league success.

In Europe, I don’t quite feel we are ready to compete with Europe’s elite, the likes of Real, Barca, Bayern and Juventus are still a fair bit ahead of us in terms of ability.

Title Challenge Should Be Priority

Domestically, we should be challenging in the cups, but it all depends on our league form, as I feel the league title will be Joses priority this season, so we may see a bit of squad rotation in both the FA and league cups.

It’s a big season for Pogba, with Matic now signed, it should free up the Frenchman for a more advanced role, and I expect him to hit double figures in terms of goals.

Lukaku has already shown pre-season he can score a wide range of goals, and if the other attacking players like Martial, Mata and Mkhitaryan can find some more consistency this season then we can fill the huge void left by Zlatan. Who I’m hoping will return on a short term contract in December .

Premier League: top 3
Champions league: Quarter-Finals
League cup: Quarter-Finals
FA Cup: Winners
