  • United visit Belgium this Wednesday
  • Red Devils take a 3-1 lead to Brugge on Wednesday

Venue: Jan Breydel Stadium       Date and Kick-off: Wednesday 26 August 19.45 (BST)

United will be looking to return to the Champions League Group Stage this Wednesday, as the take on Club Brugge in the second leg of their play off.

The Red Devils hosted Brugge last Tuesday, and beat the Belgian side 3-1. Memphis Depay scored two on his Champions League debut, and also assisted Marouane Fellaini in added time to add gloss to the result. Going in 3-1 to the second game makes it seem like United have a straight forward task ahead of them, but Brugge are playing at home, and their immense fan support will help them a lot.

For Club Brugge, they will obviously be looking to beat the favorites and shock Europe. However, United should comfortably get by Club Brugge, and safely get themselves back in the Group Stage the club desires.

Manchester United 18 man squad: Sergio Romero, Sam Johnstone; Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian, Paddy McNair, Luke Shaw, Chris Smalling; Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Ashley Young; Memphis Depay, Javier Hernandez, Adnan Januzaj, Wayne Rooney.

Manchester United Predicted Starting XI: Romero, Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Shaw, Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, Depay, Herrera, Mata, Rooney

Big Night For Wayne Rooney

Pressure is mounting on Wayne Rooney

The man with the most to prove. Wayne Rooney has a make or break game against Brugge, because if he again fails to find the back of the net for a fifth game running this season, then surely even his biggest fan in Van Gaal will see fit to drop him. Rooney has looked off the pace in every game so far, but a goal against the Belgians may give him the boost he needs.

Prediction: 0-1. A goal from Rooney will be enough to avoid defeat, however, United’s lack of firepower up front will continue to be questioned, especially ahead of a tough game this weekend against Swansea.
