- James Wilson has joined Championship side Brighton on loan until the end of the season
- Some United fans have questioned the move on social media
- Gary Neville has backed the decision, if he’s not going to play regular at United
Manchester United confirmed last night that young striker James Wilson has joined Championship side Brighton on loan until the end of the season. United have fans questioned the move on social media.
I know many United fans that can’t understand why Van Gaal has allowed the striker to leave the club at this time. United have struggled for goals. And they don’t have many options upfront other than Rooney and Martial.
It’s better for Wilson to go out on loan though and play competitive football, rather than playing for the under-21s once a month; or sitting on the bench for the first-team and getting a few minutes every now and then.
It has been questioned why he hasn’t been given more of a chance by Van Gaal. You would have to feel he’s not doing enough in training to convince the manager that he deserves a chance.
If you look at Jesse Lingard, he has forced his way into Van Gaal’s thoughts and been a regular in the first-team in the last month. Lingard is someone whose had several spells away from United and come back stronger.
United legend Gary Neville reacted to the fans question marks over the move on Twitter this morning. Asking why are fans shocked when he hasn’t been playing and he needs to play games if he is going to develop into a Manchester United striker.
Neville goes on to say that many lads can reach the age of 22 with only 50 games under their belt, through waiting in the wings for their chance. Young players need to be playing and leaning.
People “Shocked” Wilson leaving on loan. Why? He hasn’t played and is a lad who needs to play all the time at his age.Better for him and MU
