- Monaco forward travelling to Manchester
- Charlie Austin is now odds on to join United
It is no secret that Manchester United are in the market for forward players, despite Van Gaal repeatedly saying that he is happy with what he has.
United have struggled for struggled in their four Premier League games so far, scoring three goals. Though they managed to win their first two games one nil, it was evident to everyone that United are missing something. They won on the opening day thanks to a Kyle Walker own goal. This goal came as Rooney delayed shooting and Walker nicked the away only to see it go in his own net.
Once again yesterday we saw Rooney delaying the chance to shoot when clean through on goal and allowing the defender to get back and take the ball off him. This is not a striker who is going to score 25 goals this season. He is clearly lacking in confidence, though after his hat-trick against Brugge in midweek he would have buried both these chances first time.
Martial Travelling To Manchester
RMC Sport in France were reporting last night that United had made a €50million offer for 19 year-old French forward Anthony Martial. Martial has been called up to the French national team and French Football Federation have released a statement confirming that the player has joined up with the squad and has been given permission to travel Manchester to sign for United
The French Football Federation statement:
Anthony Martial presented himself on Monday at 11:00 at the gathering of the French national team at Clairefontaine. He requested the permission of Didier Deschamps to travel to England to sign a contract with Manchester United. Given the exceptional circumstances, the coach has agreed to the request of the player. Anthony Martial left Clairefontaine on Monday at 12:00. He will return on Tuesday morning.
The other rumour doing the rounds is that United will sign QPR striker Charlie Austin for £15million, Austin has been linked Leicester, Newcastle and West Ham. Now the bookies have United as the favourites to sign him if he moves before the transfer window shuts at 6pm tomorrow.
Who Could Leave Old Trafford?
In Germany, Kicker are reporting that United forward Javier Hernandez will join Bayer Leverkusen, they report that the final details are yet to be clarified but he will unveiled as a Leverkusen player today. Hernandez has been limited to a few substitute appearance this season, following his return to Old Trafford after a season on loan at Real Madrid. He was an unused sub yesterday as Van Gaal favoured Fellaini as United searched for a second goal.
Another player who could be on his way to Germany from Old Trafford, is Belgium International, Adnan Januzaj. With Borussia Dortmund said to close to signing him on loan. Sky Sports are reporting that the German side are in advanced talks to take him on loan. While is also interest in the player from Tottenham, Everton, Marseille and Valencia.
Another player set to leave Old Trafford is goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard, he was told earlier this month that he could leave on a free. He now looks set to join Darren Fletcher and Jonny Evans at West Brom. Joining them on a free transfer.
