So times are changing at Manchester United. Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in May 2013 we have seen a lot of change at Manchester United on the playing staff both players and coaching staff. At the end of that season we also saw the retirement of the great Paul Scholes for the 2nd time.
The first game of last season on 17th August 2013 saw David Moyes first game in charge, i felt that Moyes was the right choice to suceed Sir Alex because of his good record Everton and i am now willing to admit i was totally wrong to think this. I think as Rio Ferdinand has said is his forthcoming autobiography that Moyes brought a small club mentality to one of the four biggest clubs in the world.
The line-up for that first match shows how much our playing has changed, there were nine players in that match day squad that are no longer at the club (one of them has retired) and two of them are out on loan but i dont see either of them having a future at Manchester United.
So we fast forward to 2nd September 2014 and we have a different manger in charge in Louis Van Gaal. and the following major players over the last few years have left the club.
Nemanja Vidic Rio Ferdinand
Several other players who were a major part of the first team squad under Sir Alex Ferguson and rightly so because they’ve not done anything to convince anyone that they should remain at Manchester United.
In the last 18 months the following players have come in that i feel will play a big part in Manchester United being successful again
Juan Mata Ander Herrera
Angel Di Maria
I feel these players and maybe a few more to come in over the years will help Manchester United be successful again, while i think we still need to get rid of few players that i see as deadwood.
I feel this season will be a working progress and hopefully we see more ups than downs in the coming season.
