Manchester United’s pre-season tour 2015 will see the team return to the United States Of America and once again competing in the International Champions Cup. United’s pre-season tour to USA last year saw them lifting the International Champions Cup after defeating Premier League rivals 3-1 in the final. This years tour will see the team travelling to Santa Clara, Seattle and Chicago. They will play games against Barcelona, Paris St Germain, Club America and San Jose Earthquakes.
The first game of the tour for United will be against Mexican City based team Club America on Friday 17th July at Seattle’s Centurylink Field.
Centurylink Field is a multi-purpose stadium in Seattle, hosting American Football and Soccer (as the American’s call it). It’s home of the Seattle Seahawks in the National Football League (NFL) and Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer (MLS). The stadium can seat up to 67,000 spectators.
The second game of the tour for United will be against MLS side San Jose Earthquake on Tuesday 21st July, the venue for this game will be announced at a later date. The third game for United will be against Barcelona on Saturday 25th July. The game will played at Santa Clara’s Levi Stadium, this is a new stadium having only been opened in July 2014. The tour for United will conclude with a game against Paris St Germain at Chicago’s Soldier Field. The winner of this International Champions Cup will decided on a League format, with each team playing four games and the winner being the side that has the most points after their four games.
