Hard To Believe It's Not Scholes, It's Carrick You Know

Michael Carrick was injured in the first days of Louis Van Gaal days at Manchester United and didn’t return to the United first team until the Manchester Derby on 2nd November, He came on as a substitute in this game and played at centre half after Chris Smalling had been sent off and although United lost this game, Carrick has played every minute of every game since as United have gone on to win six out six and surge up to the table. After the defeat to City, United were lying in 10th place in the Premier League table and there were questions as whether United would be challenging for the Champions League places. After winning six out of six they are now in 3rd place and are now looking upwards rather than worrying about the teams behind them.

Michael Carrick has played a major part in United winning these games, I knew he would bring an improvement to our team once he returned from injury. In the majority of the games Carrick has been asked to play in the defence because of injuries or if not in the defence he has sat in front of the defence. When he has played in defence it has been primarily as part of a three man central defensive line-up. I think he is able to play in this system because he can sniff out any danger to the United goal. I think in past when has been asked to play in the defence he has struggled especially when he has faced a physical presence and struggled when been one of two central defenders.

Michael Carrick never panics whether he has the ball or the opposition has the ball, He keeps our play ticking over when he plays in midfield and he is always available for his team-mates, he’s not a player that is going to be the star player for the team in terms of creating or scoring goals. He is an important part of any team because he willing to work for the team and maybe some times sacrifice any attacking thoughts he may have for the team.

Since Carrick has returned to the team, United have had the best stats in terms of passing in the Premier League. With Carrick and United having the most passes in the games and the most successful passes. He has brought a calmness to the United team and keeps the team ticking over, he has also has a never say die attitude which I think rubs off on his team-mates as he works hard for the team and I think if you ask anyone that has played with Michael Carrick will tell you just how good he is and how important he is to any team that he plays for.
