- Angel Gomes captains England under-17s to 5-0 win over Croatia
- 16 year-old midfielder scored one and provided two assists
Manchester United 16 year-old midfielder starred for England under-17s on Wednesday evening as they defeated Croatia 5-0.
The United youngster captained his country in game, scoring one goal and provided two assists.
Gomes and his fellow young lions are playing in a four-team tournament in Croatia. Their next game sees them facing Greece on Friday night.
Gomes found the back of the net on 18 minutes to give England a 3-0 lead.
The 16 year-old is fast becoming one of the standout players in United’s academy and in August became the youngest United player to score a hat-trick at Academy level.
That came in a 5-1 win over Everton and at the time Gomes was 15 years, 11 months and 29 days old.
