Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs is set to leave the club bringing to an end his 29 year association. Giggs has reached a settlement with the club over his departure.
Ever since the appointment of Jose Mourinho as the successor to Louis Van Gaal. Speculation has been rife over Ryan Giggs future with the club.
Since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, Giggs has worked on the coaching staff under both David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal.
Giggs worked as assistant manager under Dutchman Van Gaal but new manager Jose Mourinho is expected to appoint long-time assistant and friend Rui Faria to the role.
It is believed that Giggs has reached an agreement with club over the settlement of his contract, which still has one year to run.
Giggs wants to be the main man
After working under both Moyes and Van Gaal, Giggs who has passed all his coaching badges is looking to be the main man himself.
Giggs has made no secret of his desire not just to move into management but to be manager of Manchester United and when he was appointed as Van Gaal’s assistant it was with a view to him taking over.
Despite Van Gaal leaving the club a year earlier than had been planned. Giggs felt he was ready to take the hot-seat at Old Trafford and is disappointed to have been overlooked in favour of Mourinho.
Giggs is also said have been less than impressed with the way Manchester United handled the departure of Van Gaal.
When reports emerged of Van Gaal’s sacking only moments after the full-time whistle in the FA Cup final. A game United won to win the trophy for the first time in 12 years.
