- Manchester United have to the South-Coast for their penultimate game of the Premier League season
- De Gea, Valencia, Blind and Pogba all absent
Manchester United face Southampton in their penultimate game of the Premier League season on Wednesday night and Jose Mourinho looks set to make changes to his team once again.
Following their 2-1 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday afternoon, Manchester United have no chance of finishing in the top four and little chance of finishing higher than sixth place.
The focus for Jose Mourinho is now on preparing his team for the Europa League final in eight days time.
The Manchester United manager has already confirmed that Sergio Romero will keep his place in goal for that final. Meaning David De Gea may have played his last game of the season against Tottenham and maybe his last game for the club if the transfer rumours turn out to be true.
De Gea has remained back in Manchester along with Daley Blind, Antonio Valencia and Paul Pogba. Both Blind and Valencia are being rested for the final while Pogba is once again absent following the death of his father.
Mourinho has already confirmed that Blind with start the final against his former side. With Rojo and Bailly missing the final, the Dutchman will start at centre-back.
Valencia has been an ever-present for United at right-back and has probably been the sides most consistent performer.
Sergio Romero is joined in the travelling squad for this game by young goalkeepers Joel Pereira and Kieran O’Hara.
Axel Tuanzebe has started the last two Premier League games and has once again travelled with first-team. Joining Tuanzebe on the trip to Southampton are Scott McTominay and Demetri Mitchell, who were both unused subs against Spurs.
Marouane Fellaini returns to the Premier League squad following his three match suspension and is likely to start against Southampton.
