Manchester United eased their way to the fifth round of FA cup with a 3-1 win against Derby on Friday evening. The Red Devils delivered a better performance after the pressure mounted following the defeat against Southampton last weekend.
Louis Van Gaal made a couple of changes in the team which faced the Saints. Guillermo Varela came in for injured Matteo Darmian and Juan Mata replaced fellow Spaniard Ander Herrera.
United started the game on a positive note as they dominated the possesion and were lively in the final third.
They were rewarded for their early dominance with a beautifully curled finish from Wayne Rooney, from the edge of the box. United kept on pressing in the final third to create more chances.
Manchester United paid the price for not finishing off their chances as Derby caught the visitors on counter.
George Thorne completed a brilliant move by finishing crisply past David De Gea to bring Derby back in the game. Derby continued to threathen in the latter stages of second as they kept on winning the ball in the final third.
After being patient in possesion United finally grabbed the second goal.Jesse Lingard played a ball in from the right flank which was finished brilliantly by Daley Blind who initiated the move.
Anthony Martial kept on creating chances from the left flank as he was able to beat his man and deliver dangerous balls in the box.
He helped in setting up Juan Mata for the third goal which sealed the win for Manchester United. The Red Devils showed great signs of improvement in the final third after lacklustre performance against Saints.
