- United have suffered with injuries in defensive areas
- Star Tweet indicates he may be back very soon
Manchester United star Antonio Valencia is one of many defenders that have been injured this season but it might not be long before Valencia will be available to Van Gaal once again.
Valencia is currently available for selection along with Jones, Rojo and Shaw. Meaning Van Gaal is without at least three players who can play in the full-back areas.
This has meant a extended run in the team at full-back for Ashley Young. Young has filled in at left-back in the past but he has spent the majority of this season at right-back.
This has meant right-back Darmian being asked to fill in at left-back in the absence of Shaw and Rojo. Not only have these injuries restricted United in defence but using Young in defence has taken away a attacking option for Van Gaal.
Valencia has been out of action since the 0-0 draw with Manchester City on October 25. Meaning it is approaching three months since he suffered the injury.
Though the club never indicated what the injury was or how long the Ecuadorian would be out for. I think all United fans feared that it was serious.

This tweet from Valencia this morning may indicate that Valencia is ready to step up his return from injury and provide more options for Van Gaal in the second-half of the season.
After last weekends victory over Liverpool. United sit in fifth place in the league. Two points behind fourth place Tottenham.
A win for United over Southampton and a defeat for Tottenham against Crystal Palace would see United move up in the table.
