With his future still uncertain David De Gea has been told that he is expected back in Manchester for pre-season training on July 6th. De Gea just has one year remaining on his Manchester United contract and Real Madrid are determined to sign the Spanish international.
It appears United are playing hardball with Madrid, telling them if they want to take De Gea back to his home city to pay what they are asking. United are believed to want a fee that would break the record transfer fee for a goalkeeper. Meaning they would have to pay at £33million to take De Gea to the Santiago Bernabeu.
It had been reported that De Gea had put his Manchester home up for sale, seen as a clear indication that he would be making the move to Madrid very soon. The truth is, De Gea is only renting the house and it’s the owner who has decided to put it up for sale. In fact he has just extended his lease on it for another month, a clear indication that negotiations between the two clubs are at a standstill and the place De Gea will be going for sure is to America on United’s pre-season tour.
Another twist in this whole transfer saga, is United’s reported interested in Real’s defender Sergio Ramos. With United reportedly bidding £28.6million for the Spanish defender earlier this week. Could see a deal struck between the two clubs, where Madrid get De Gea and United get Ramos.
