Manchester United have named their squad for this season’s Champions League, David De Gea is the most notable name following the collapse of his move to Real Madrid. Also included is deadline day signing Anthony Martial.
United have named 26 players in all, with 23 of those on the List A of players while there are three players named as List B players. Find the definition of what List A and B are at UEFA.com
The headline from this squad with of course be the inclusion of goalkeeper David De Gea, following his deadline day move to Real Madrid fell through. Fellow Spaniard has a long way to go to earn a reprieve from manager Van Gaal after failing to make the squad. After he refused to play in several Under-21 games last season.
Deadline day signing is included in the squad, he is eligible for the competition despite playing in the qualifying rounds for AS Monaco. Because Monaco were knocked out and the qualifying rounds aren’t recognised as official Champions League games.
Many of the squad will be making their Champions League debuts for United, following United’s failure to make last years competition and all the new arrivals this summer.
