- Matteo Darmian arrived at Old Trafford in summer, moving from Serie A side Torino
- The Italian has been linked with a return to Italy with Juventus
- Darmian has dismissed these reports as pure speculation
Despite already being an Italian International and impressing for Italy at the 2014 World Cup. Matteo Darmian arrived in England as an unknown.
Darmian made an impressive start to his first season in English football but has struggled in recent months. The defender has just returned from a recent hamstring injury.
Darmian struggles have seen him linked with a return to Italy with Juventus. Their has even been talk of a loan month this month.
Darmian has also been linked with a move to Bayern Munich. Recently there have been reports that Pep Guardiola wanted to sign Darmian in the summer and is not happy with Bayern’s decision not to sanction a move for the Italian.
Darmian though has insisted he is happy being a Manchester United player and wants to continue working hard to become a Manchester United great.
I am happy with the team, the staff and the city, so I just try to ignore the rumours
Darmian also insists he and his Manchester United team-mates are happy with the club’s start to the New Year despite criticism of their playing style.
United have scored just seven goals in the last ten home games at Old Trafford and have scored just two first-half goals at Old Trafford all season.
Darmian has laid the blame for these stats on lesser teams coming to Old Trafford and “parking the bus” but the Italian believes confidence is growing in the dressing-room after two straight wins.
Now we have to continue in the way we have started the New Year. We have beaten Swansea and beaten Sheffield United and now we must continue in this way
